Seventy-one artists explore the possibilities of a single colour and its shades, in a group exhibition organised by Omar Al Marzouqi.
Colour as a language
Held at the Saudi Center for Fine Arts in Jeddah, Chroma 1 brought together 71 artists from across Saudi Arabia. Each participant built a work around one colour and its shades, using light and shadow to create depth and detail.
Exhibition organiser Omar Al Marzouqi selected six primary and secondary colours: red, yellow, blue, orange, green and purple. The challenge extended from paintings to craft works, bringing varied practices together around a shared idea.
